A large part of the current environmental crisis happens in the less developed countries with less stable governments. In these governments, like most others, large corporations easily use lobbying and politicians to ensure that environmental regulations remain lax, allowing them to exploit the environment for profit. These countries as a result tend to have the worst declines in important environmental factors such as the biodiversity in ecosystems. These "weakest links" are where it is most impactful to do whatever possible. With the money we raise, we directly plant trees in areas in South America like we have in Guatemala to preserve those dying ecosystems before it's too late and more of nature is lost.
